So with 16 days left of Movember, you may be in need of some tips to care for your luscious top lip locks. For business and casual, Truly SAfrican recommends a neat, short mustache that doesn’t venture past your upper lip.

• Use a napkin after eating

No need to leave a crumb trail as you’re not Hansel, and besides, Gretel now has an iPhone with GPS to find her way.

• Comb your moustache

Use a downward motion with a fine toothed comb or if it’s an emergency, a toothbrush would do (though make sure it’s yours!)

• Trim your stash when dry

Start in the middle and work your way each side… and be careful with those sharp scissors.

• For extra pizzazz, use moustache gel

Yes you can actually buy some. And if you don’t know how to apply it, check this.

At the moment, South Africa is in seventh place having raised £78,400. The top ten are as follows:

Canada

UK

Australia

The official video for Paradise by Coldplay was released yesterday on YouTube. Playing two gigs in SA earlier this month, the band took so warmly to the beautiful landscape and cities – but especially the sunshine – that they decided to shoot the video there.

Filmed in London (my current home) and South Africa (my home country), your heart gushes the millisecond you see the fluffy elephant hanging forlornly through the bars of its zoo enclosure. Escaping , our elephant makes a mad dash through the parks and streets of central London, down to the underground to Heathrow and boards a flight to South Africa in search of … you guessed it … PARA—PARA—PARA—DISE.

Naturally, for an elephant, SA’s the ultimate paradise, but hey, I may be somewhat biased.

Bathed in sunshine, the ocean meets beach and the Mother City’s mountains. Landing at Cape Town International Airport, a suitcase emerges on the arrivals conveyer belt with a grey fluffy trunk sticking out it. In Johannesburg, fluffy elephant walks the streets of the city centre and buys a unicycle to continue its paradise quest . Finally, arriving in the savanna (shot in the Karoo, Northern Cape ), our elephant comes across its three-piece-band of fluffy elephant mates, to live happily ever after in softrock heaven.

If you’d like to retrace fluffy elephant’s journey through paradise, here’s a few ideas for along the way.

Cape Town – Camps Bay Retreat 5 Star Boutique Hotel has all the bells and whistles with gourmet fare, two swimming pools, a tennis court, a wellness centre, and spa offering facials, massages and other treatments. And because you’ll be high on life after that, take to the skies with Parapaxfor a tandem paragliding flight over beautiful Cape Town or the winelands.

Johannesburg – A view on Hollywood – Stay on the highest point of Northcliff hill with amazing 180 degree views over Johannesburg Metropolis. While in Jozi, take a plunge at Orlando Towers, the world’s first bungee jump between two cooling towers.

Little Karoo – Le Petit Karoo Ranch – luxury tented bush camp to scoff panoramic views of the Swartberg mountain range. Alternatively, speak to the team at Kalahari Safaris for specialised tours of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park and Augrabies Falls.
